Tuesday, May 25th

Now that you have finished your book, share your thoughts on the book. Remember to be reflective in your thinking. What did you notice about the characters? Did your feelings change from the beginning to the end of the book? Why do you think the author picked the title? What did you notice about the plot and climax? These are just a few examples of what you could write about, remember that you can include other thoughts too!

  1. I noticed that Bud has learned more of the many challenges you face in life. First his mom dieing and the many chalenges he faced when he ran away from the Amos' house to find his dad, miles away. In the begining of the book I felt kind of bad for Bud because his dad had left his mom and him and then his mom died and Bud had to live at an orphanage. At the end of the book I felt exicted because Bud had found his grandpa even though he was looking for his dad. I still felt excited that he still had someone in his family that he could live with and have the chance to know. I think the author chose this title because when ever Bud would meet somebody new he would say,"My name is Bud, not Buddy sir". I noticed that Bud had a lot of hard times, especialy after he decided to run away, but Bud also had a lot of good things happen to him. Like finding his dad. I hope Bud has a fun time catching up on all the things he had missed with his grandpa.

    I think that the Amos put Bud in the shed for a consequence, not to be me. I also wonder if they knew about the hornet nest in their. I bet they thought that it was probably abandoned by then. If they did know that their was still hornetsliving in their and they knew I personallity think that they thought that the hornets wouldn't hurt him, but then the Amos family might have not know aout the hornets nest again. I am really surprised that Herman E. Calloway is not his father. The reason why i am surprised is because of how much proof that he gave in the book that Herman was his father, but he had it all wrong. I am wondering what happend to Bud's real dad then. I think that that Bud's dad died soon after he was born. His mother was probaly a willow and so she didn't like talking about it and that is why she probably never brought the subject up. At the end of the book i thought that Bud really changed a lot. The reason why i thought that bud changed a lot is because in the beginning of the book he lies alot but in the ending of the book he tell the truth a lot more. I am think that he is telling the truth alot more because he is getting more trust in people. I am wondering why Bud carries the jack knife around. I am wondoring if it is because he is scared something might happen to him or if something has happend in the past that he needs is to be on the safe side. I think that this book would happend in the 1960's if it was true.

  4. Did you think that Bud's mom knew when she gave Bud the paper with the picture of who she thought was was the father of Bud was actualy his grandpa?

  6. I feel that bud is happy to know that Herman E Calloway is Bud's father and that bud sleeps in his mother's bedroom and in Grand Calloway Station where his mother lived and the room that she died in.

    I didn't think that he would be able to meet Herman E. Calloway because Bud knew that he was a famous person and that the chances of meeting him were probably really slim. I think that the this book was to teach a lesson. I think the lesson is to teach you not to asume untill you know. The reason why i think this is because I don't think that he knew for a fact that Herman E. Calloway is his real dad. I think that he just assumed that he was his father because he didn't have anybody else that he could say that he was his father. Another reason why i think this is because the magazine was the only thing that he had that his mother kept. I think this book is a lot like the world we live on right now. I think that because after you have bad luck you have good luck. An example is this : Bud's mother died He went to the home. Then he got adopted, then he ran away and went out to find Herman E. Calloway. I think that Buds grandpa is a lot Bud. I think this because Bud can be grumpy sometimes. I think that Bud will become goos at playing the saxaphone. To me this book kept left you guessing. When you prdict you almost always are wrong. Like I thought the bat was going to hurt Bud but I found out that it wasn't a bat it was a hornets nest that he whaked. I am wondering what it feels like to be stung by a hornet. I also wondor if the Amos family even cares if Bud is gone. I don't think that the Amos family did a good job because I think that they should let both of the people share their side of the story then make the verdict. I hope that if Bud has to ever be adopted again he gats a good family that really loves hims and cares about him. I think that Bud is a good person because he never did any harm to anybody.

  8. I noticed that alot of the characters Bud met made Bud think a little different about things. I think the reason they picked the title is because thats the main characters name and the main characters name that he doesn't like to be called. My feelings changed from the begining to the end because I started to feel different about Bud. I started to feel like he didn't want to lye as much anymore. I never thought that Herman E. Callaway would be Buds grandpa. I never thought that Herman was a good guy until I got to the end of the story. At first I thought Herman was going to make Bud go back on the streets, but then I relised that Herman just needed time to get used to his new grand son.

    If he did harm somebody than he should get bad luck. To me Luck is all based on karma. I think that this book is honored for all the awards because of how good the author did to make this book such a fantastic book.

    A lot of the people made Buds personality change for instance from liking someone to hating someone like Herman E Caloway.Bud didn't like him at first but i think near the end he started to feel bad for him. I wonder if Bud ever really got close to Herman later on.I think one of the the most influenced moments in the story was the time he kissed Deza Maloan. Some of my favorite things in the story that the author has is the sayings bud had like bud codwells rules and things to have a funner life and making a better lier out of yourself and WoopZoopSloop.An ending that i thought might be kind of neat is if the author said in the part were he counts to ten and is going to blow his horn if it went 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 then the story was done. One thing i noticed is that the people that bud meats they are all almost African american. One thing i couldn't believe is the book said that Herman had a whole glove box filled with rocks with the dates and were they where during that concert i probably would of stopped at about a year later. The story i think can really changed your feelings from end to beginning first he is just a boy from an orphange then all of suddenly hes with a really famous music group. The way the author put it when he was at the Sweatpee he made it sound like Bud thought he was in heaven. i also wonder if steady edy bevery wrote a song called I cannot Cry No More. Because when bud said he couldn't cry no more steady Edy said that was a good name for a song.I also wonder if the band members like steady Edy and the other ones with the nick names ever found out that Herman was buds grandpa. The room that Bud slept I thought at first was the room of Miss Thomases when she was little. A question that Bud had is a question I had too is how did the adults tell that bud was always hungry.I think that the author did pick a good title because a lot of people did call him buddy and he didnt like that and he always told them that. the story is a really good cliffhanger it really makes me wonder what happened to Bud did they take him in for the rest of his child hood did he learn how to play the horn did he leran even more interments. Also who was his real dad in the first place. i was thinking when bud met the band that his dad might of bean steady Edy because of the way edy was treating him.I think the author should write a second Bud no t Budy and i would defenently read that book.

    I thought the book was pretty good because it was descriptive.except i didn't like it also because the first couple pages were hard for me to understand so i wouldn't been good at blogging at that time. i was surprised that Herman was Bud's grandpa i was pretty shocked. one of the things i noticed about the characters are most of them noticed that he was almost always hungry. one of my feelings i had at the begging of the book was that he was a dangerous person because of the jack nife. but it turns out i now feel like he is a honest trustworthy kid. i think the book was called bu not buddy because his name was buddy but didn't like it so he wanted to be called bud. also because he repeated that many times to people he met. one of my thought is who really was bu's dad. also why is Herman so mean.i think its because his daughter left him. the last thought i had was how does he remember all of bud caldwell's rules and things for having a funner life and making a better liar of yourself. I REALLY LIKED THIS BOOK AT THE END!!!!!!!

  13. I think that Bud had more problems to deal with than we deal with today. I think that Bud feels happy now that he knows where his mother lived. I wonder why Bud had rules on how ot have a funner life and make a better liar out of yourself. For example rules to have a funner life and make a better liar out of yourself number 26. i think that Bud is feeling better now that he is with nicer people. For example the band other than Herman E Calloway and Miss Thomas are being nicer than the Amoses who locked Bud up in their shed just because he and their son Tod which they called Toddy got into a fight because Tod wanted to fight with Bud when Bud just got there.
